As the Philippine capital of Manila was ravaged by tropical storm Ketsana at least 106 people were dead or missing and nearly 300,000 fled their homes the BBC reported that Philippine TV weathermen blamed Global Warming. However Piers Corbyn astrophysicist of long range weather and climate forecasters WeatherAction.com says "No - It's nothing to do with CO2, It's the Sun!"

"The formation of this deadly storm Ketsana and 5 other predicted extreme weather events around the world were all forecasted to start in a special solar-triggered extreme weather formation period of around 21-23 Sept which we announced at the start of September. Six of the seven storm events we predicted for that period formed. This brings the success rate of our solar-based extreme event long range predictions so far this month to 19/21 (=90%), maintaining the 85% average.

"We identified the period around 21-23 Sept as being of special danger for world weather extreme events because of our predicted significant but largely invisible events on the sun and predicted special sun-earth connections which would enable extreme event triggering. The events on the Sun mark long-awaited new activity as the Sun moves out of the present minimum of visible activity into the beginning of solar cycle 24:

"On Earth this was the most action-packed extreme weather (formation) event period for a long time and covered all continents.  Extreme events were confirmed in all the 5 regions around the world for which we issued forecasts and there were additional simultaneous extreme events such as Australian dust storms.  Forecast & video of more on Sept forecasts:

This was not a full Tropical Storm but formation confirmed forecast in basic sense. There were also other Atlantic developments reported around 20/21st and 23rd but only one - this one - reached proper reported TD level and a place on the world storm report map via http://www.wunderground.com/tropical/ ,  hence the score 1 out of 2)

Piers Corbyn said: "No amount of standard meteorology, supercomputers or CO2 Global Warming theory can explain these worldwide simultaneous extreme weather events let alone forecast them. Our forecasting system based on solar particles and magnetic effects - the Solar Weather Technique - can do both from months ahead.

We will explain more about where Climate Change and Climate Change policy are heading and how and why the Solar Weather Technique works as well as announcing some extreme upcoming events at our WeatherAction.com special public Seminar /conference on Weds Oct 28.
